Teaching with Pinterest

Pinterest is a very powerful social networking tool that not only connects you with other people, but it also connects you with articles that match your interest. Pinterest is powerful in education because it gives you the ability to share and compile the information that interests you with others. This is very important when doing research and working with other teammates in order to solve a mathematical problem, or to further investigate a scientific topic. The grade I would recommend using pinterest for education is in High school student’s grades 9-12. Particularly, I would expose pinterest to students that are in the 11th grade science, such as physics and chemistry. The reason is because they will write articles, share pictures of their projects, and also give and receive feedback of their own assignments and their classmates. This way the students will have less of a probability of being lost during an assignment and learn more effectively.

Another reason that makes Pinterest a powerful tool for teaching and learning is that it increases feedback and engagement dramatically in a students work. It increases feedback because a student can post their work on their pinboard and their classmates can see what they are working on, this can help students because if they feel they are lost or not doing the work correctly, they can see what they might be doing wrong.  Pinterest increases their engagement because pinterest is a social tool. You can exchange feedback with classmates or even with the people you are following of a subject that interest you. This can be used beyond high school, in a college or even doctoral level.  We all learn with technology and should not be intimidated by technology. As teachers we must be able to understand all the different types of social technologies available to our students. Pinterest is very popular with high school students, and I believe they will be very encouraged to see that they can use pinterest in their classroom.

As Teachers pinterest in especially powerful in teaching Physics and Chemistry because you are able to see how other teachers are using teaching methods in their classroom. Pinterest allows you to also share activities, knowledge, and various connections that can improve your classroom’s learning curve. This is why pinterest is an effective teaching and learning tool, because it increases teaching and learning by increasing engagement and feedback.

Teaching and Learning with Evernote

Evernote is a very powerful note-taking tool. It can really make things a lot easier for students in the classroom. Sometimes, teachers have a bad habit of speaking to quickly, and in the old days, this was one of the reasons why students would not be able to take complete notes in a classroom. Evernote really helps this issue in the classroom, it can make you be more creative when taking notes. Adding important audio clips, and pictures, can really help you understand the subject you are learning. I would say Evernote is great for learning something complex like programming. Reason being is that programming requires the understanding of many mathematical fundamentals such as recursion and arrays. There are many ways you can program but with Evernote you will be able to understand the process of an algorithm better because of the clarity of your description.  Another great example of using evernote is not of learning but of teaching science. Sometimes and by sometimes I mean always, a professor loses a vital component required to complete the lesson.  This is probably the greatest reason to use evernote in the classroom. Evernote really shows the magic behind it, because it organizes your entire lesson and makes it look good. This is perfect for grade levels of 8-12, because it is where a student must understand how reactions, and elements work.  Finally, The best subject to teach with evernote would be Geometry. A student sometimes has difficulty seeing the beauty side of math. This is very tragic, because in the past when you heard of the word geometry, you would imagine a beautiful shape now its different. Students when they hear the word Geometry they are frightened or associate it with boredom. Evernote would be perfect for students grade 9-12. The reason is because students are learning geometrical shapes, and graphing. In my experience with Evernote, it has been very easy to add geometrical shapes and formulas that are required to complete the lesson. It is not about adding a problem and a solution in your example, evernote really helps you be creative when showing the step-by-step process. That is the most vital part of a lesson that teachers can neglect when they are teaching. I think that Evernote can help make the classroom more engaging, especially in the STEM areas. However, it is up to the professors’ creativity to be able to make it look appealing to the student. Otherwise, it will only serve as a word program.

Boxing and Evernote

I have always been a fan of boxing, and In this post I will show you how boxers differ from other athletes in other sports.

self directed learning

There has been an increase in investments using videogames in educational technology. I think this articles proves something that I have always been in favor of. When I was a kid I learned how to read and write because of videogames. I also learned English as a second language playing these same videogames. The think that strikes me the most is how late these things are happening. Also it is amazing how quickly investment money is being thrown to these gaming companies. However, I think a key component that they cannot forget is to make the videogames immersive so that the student playing them does not become lost. The article mentions that these companies will combine to strengthen their key products. I think that today we are barely using very little technology in our classrooms and that needs to change. In the other hand, there are a lot of technologies that have been introduced that will facilitate education. For example, Samsung has the Virtual Reality headset which offers people the opportunity to explore simulated reality. This can benefit the classroom greatly because we can find greater ways of engagement by using this.

Online marketing is the future of business, it makes everything a lot simpler and ideally if used correctly can virtually sell itself. The key importance of how this can be used in the classroom is by making students able to see something they are interested in. The article also mentions how social networks are easier to market it, because people often buy things from a direct recommendation of a product. So if someone you know likes a product, you will most likely like it as well and buy a product. This subject is ideal for someone who is seeking to open a school. The article also expresses how facebook marketing although very powerful, can cause users problems because you can easily lose a lot of revenue if you invest it without proper knowledge of the engine. You must practice and make small investments in the site to see how your ads affect the audience where they are placed. You must know that if used correctly, you can save a lot of income by learning how to use make the right ads, with the audience you want, and the area you want it placed in. However, please note that online marketing is not just facebook marketing.

What is Blogging and how it works

The media and news has evolved since the internet was introduced. Before as you know, we only received news from a television and rarely would have the opportunity to question the source of where the reporters got the news from. Things are a lot different now, as anybody with a camera phone or computer can be a blogger, and a news reporter. I started my sports blog website last year and I did it as a hobby, I had no idea of how big it would grow. However, a lot of people even people in the independent film area, think it is very difficult to make money as a blogger or independent film director. The truth is that it is a lot easier than you think. YouTube, and blogging is a tool that can and will help you do what you love, and make a living from it. There are many ways to be a blogger, you can show your face and talk about a certain subject, create a presentation type video and do a voice over, or you can create a blog and simply write information you want and use social networks to get across to people. Everyone that has a facebook is a blogger. The reason I am saying this is because you share things on your facebook and your friends who see the information are your audience.

What are the pros of blogging?

The pros of blogging are that you have the potential to earn revenue from what you write about, you have much more tools available for sources, you can verify sources. You also have a method of using tools for gaining traffic, similar to paying rent at a place but different. You can use these tools to help get traffic to your blog. You also can communicate with a lot more people using the internet than you can in person. You can compare and contrast your own blog with others to see how you can improve yours, and basically it is very engaging.

Cons of Blogging?
When i started blogging the hard part was actually getting traffic. The trick is just being patient, doing what you like, and be consistent. However, the only con i can think of is that it requires modern technology such as a computer, a cellphone, a camera, and knowledge of web design. Very basic knowledge but for beginners it might be difficult. However, that being said it is not hard to learn. You have to try it because if we want to live in a better civilization we all must be bloggers.
