Educational technology despite many new technologies that
have been introduced since the birth of the smartphones has found itself
slightly plateaued. It is shown that despite their being many new technologies
that are available to assist the professor in creating a lesson, the professor
finds it difficult to leave the traditional classroom behind. I spoke to
several professors about this, and they all agree that professors themselves
need to be trained and learn the technologies so they can implement it
efficiently in the classroom. The issue
that most teachers face is obviously lack of time. Every year, teachers are cut
back on their teaching time. In the past, a class period was 90 minutes. Now,
the classroom period has been slashed to 45-minute lessons. There is a higher
focus in standardized testing; teachers do not have the time to learn the
technologies that are offered to better the classroom. In order for them to be
able to take advantage of the technology, teachers need to assist training so
that they can take advantage of these technologies. In the long run, these
technologies help the teacher by saving time, as well as increase engagement
with students.
Technology is a subject that is growing day by day. Now
students in their own time use several different applications to communicate
with their friends and family. In the past we only used a cellphone or computer
messenger to talk to our loved ones. Now however, we have the power to go live,
and to see where everybody is. The article expresses that technology is growing
immensely. However, most classrooms do not take advantage of the technology
that is offered today. Most students are familiar with social networking
applications. On the other hand, students are not familiar with the
applications that are used for educational technology. There are many applications
that can make the classroom more efficient. In the article, Maloney expresses
that using technology in the classroom increases student’s grades dramatically
in all subject areas. As well as it increases their overall engagement and
participation inside the classroom. Not
only that, the level of understanding the student receives in the lesson is
much more effective than that of a traditional classroom. I think that students
and teachers should learn technology together so that they can save time, as
well as understand each lesson in a more efficient fashion.
Dear Frederick,
ResponderBorrarI agree with you that it is very important that professors need to be trained for using new technologies. Time is a big issue but also I think that budget too. Education Authorities and politicians that also approve budgets for Education have to be convinced and take care about too. In addition, professor that have this opportunity should take advantages of it and make the difference in classroom.
Thanks
