Evernote is a
very powerful note-taking tool. It can really make things a lot easier for
students in the classroom. Sometimes, teachers have a bad habit of speaking to
quickly, and in the old days, this was one of the reasons why students would
not be able to take complete notes in a classroom. Evernote really helps this
issue in the classroom, it can make you be more creative when taking notes.
Adding important audio clips, and pictures, can really help you understand the
subject you are learning. I would say Evernote is great for learning something
complex like programming. Reason being is that programming requires the
understanding of many mathematical fundamentals such as recursion and arrays.
There are many ways you can program but with Evernote you will be able to
understand the process of an algorithm better because of the clarity of your
description. Another great example of
using evernote is not of learning but of teaching science. Sometimes and by
sometimes I mean always, a professor loses a vital component required to
complete the lesson. This is probably
the greatest reason to use evernote in the classroom. Evernote really shows the
magic behind it, because it organizes your entire lesson and makes it look good.
This is perfect for grade levels of 8-12, because it is where a student must
understand how reactions, and elements work.
Finally, The best subject to teach with evernote would be Geometry. A
student sometimes has difficulty seeing the beauty side of math. This is very
tragic, because in the past when you heard of the word geometry, you would
imagine a beautiful shape now its different. Students when they hear the word
Geometry they are frightened or associate it with boredom. Evernote would be
perfect for students grade 9-12. The reason is because students are learning
geometrical shapes, and graphing. In my experience with Evernote, it has been
very easy to add geometrical shapes and formulas that are required to complete
the lesson. It is not about adding a problem and a solution in your example,
evernote really helps you be creative when showing the step-by-step process.
That is the most vital part of a lesson that teachers can neglect when they are
teaching. I think that Evernote can help make the classroom more engaging,
especially in the STEM areas. However, it is up to the professors’ creativity
to be able to make it look appealing to the student. Otherwise, it will only serve
as a word program.
Fredrick,
ResponderBorrarI agree that Evernote is a great tool for note taking. I was also amazed at the possibilities for students to be able to organize their classes in the program. I love that students can use this application on their smart phone and other devices. If a student has a difficult time listening and writing they can simply listen during class, take a picture and add it to a note and place it in the corresponding Notebook. Have problems remembering due dates? No worries. create a note in the corresponding Notebook and create an alarm to remind you ahead of time. I think this tool is going to help my students organize their workload and help develop essential time management skills.
Fredrick,
BorrarI loved reading your blog and agree that it can be used for more than a note taking tool. Most of the blogs I have read emphasize how it could mainly be used for notetaking. Besides using them for digital portfolios no one had mentioned how it could be used for another subject. I liked the idea of using it for geometry and having students create their own shapes. If students are given the liberty of making their own shapes using different formulas, they will definitely be engaged in the process.
Frederick,
ResponderBorrarI could not agree more with evernote being extremely helpful in mathematics. I think that this will help students with understanding the relationship between numbers and models. The student must be able to put together shapes with formulas, and a lot of the times students do not have the right idea of solving a problem. Evernote will help a lot.
